Pin Furniture products are manufactured in Thailand using rubber wood from latex plantations. The trees are cut for replanting when they no longer produce enough latex, then the wood is recovered as a by-product. Studies show that rubber plantations can be as efficient as natural forest in removing carbon-dioxide from the air, by converting it into rubber latex, soil and wood - making rubber wood an environmentally friendly choice.
Since Pin International began production in 1987, they have striven constantly to improve products and production. They will continue to provide children around the world with quality products that are beautiful, traditional and fun, and that provide a connection to nature through the use of wood. Pin Furniture is also proud to have obtained the environmental Thai Green Label award.
Rubber trees (Hevea basiliensis) (yang phara in Thai) can be sold for timber once they have passed their productive life, which is usually about 25 years. The wood is a semi hard, light coloured timber. It has a pleasant grain and can be used in wooden utensils, furniture, flooring and chipboard making. Thailand at 1.6 million hectares (4 million acres) has the worlds second largest area under rubber cultivation.
